NEW YORK - The Russian government has warned Western leaders in the Security Council (DK), United Nations, that the intervention of outsiders on the dispute in Syria could trigger a civil war.
"Acts of violence perpetrated against opposition demonstrators The Syrian government does not pose a threat to international peace and security," said Russia's Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Alexander Pankin, to the 15-nation UN Security Council member told AFP on Wednesday (28/04/2011).
Pankin added that the real threat to Syrian interference can come from outsiders. Approaches that could lead to endless cycles of violence and can lead to civil war.
