No More Vegetables and Fruits from the Japanese

The Philippines officially stop the import of plant materials as well as vegetables and fruits following derivative products from six prefectures in Japan. According to Xinhua reporter on Wednesday (05/04/2011), six were referred to Fukushima prefecture, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Iwata, and Miyagi. "We avoid the risk of the possibility of nuclear radiation on these products," said Minister of Agriculture Philippines Proceso Alcala.

Even so, the Philippine government policy is temporary. Alcala said during the cessation of imports, the Philippine government will increase efforts to food security and consumer protection.
Japan, earthquake and tsunami bermagnitud 9.0 on Friday (11/03/2011) face the cancellation of import of agricultural products and livestock due to allegations of nuclear radiation. Natural disasters could damage the facility was indeed a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Fukushima.
