The International Automobile Federation (FIA) extend the deadline for the Bahrain GP to decide whether political conditions in the country is safe to hold a F1 event.
Bahrain GP F1 opener in fact be a series of 2011, but political turmoil in the country heats up making Bahrain Grand Prix event postponed. FIA then give a time until Sunday, May 1 and then to ascertain whether the Bahrain Grand Prix could be held.
However, until Sunday yesterday there has been no response from the Bahrain GP. F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone last week did confirm that the Bahrain Grand Prix will be given additional time to make decisions.
Ecclestone statement the FIA responded by providing additional time for the Bahrain Grand Prix until 3 June.
"FIA, has given the Federation of Automotive Bahrain and Bahrain International Circuit a time extension until June 3, right on the FIA board meeting in Barcelona. This decision was taken after consultation with the parties Bahrain, F1 management and promoter,"the FIA official statement as reported by ITV.
Previously, Ecclestone has given support to the Bahrain GP to remain on F1 calendar. Ecclestone had insisted the possibility of Bahrain Grand Prix will be held in November, on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi and Brazilian GP. Bahrain GP last year's champion was the Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso.
