China has started construction of such a hospital or treatment center unique because it will be used by 40 giant pandas. The center has comfortable accommodation and exclusive treatment programs. Similarly, China's news media on Thursday (05/05/2011).
The facility is expected to be completed in 2012 it will cover an area of about 51 hectares in the southwestern province of Sichuan, China. Construction will cost 210 million yuan (32 million U.S. dollars or equivalent to Rp 288 billion for the exchange rate of Rp 9,000 per U.S. dollar).
Hong Kong Government will provide 130 million yuan for the project, while the remaining funding comes from private investors.
"Its mission is to save the giant pandas living wild and conduct research on disease prevention and control of endangered species, "said Zhang Hemin, head of China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda.
"This facility will not only be useful to breed pandas in isolation and treatment of disease, but also prevent cross-infection of pandas and people. This is because we sometimes have to take them to hospital for treatment of humans," added Zhang.
Giant panda is one among many species of the world's most endangered species. Over the last 20 years, an expert on China has lifted 315 animals cute animals from captive pandas.
State Forestry Administration statistics show that about 1,600 pandas live in the wild. The 300 pandas live in zoos around the world.
