Turkey urges Gaddafi to quit

ANKARA - Prime Minister (PM) Turkey urged Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi must resign from office as quickly as possible. So far, Gaddafi did not heed the urging of the world that wants it down.

"Gaddafi continues to ward off pressure for changes in Libya. Himself prefer bloodshed and tears against his own people," said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was quoted as saying by the Associated Press on Tuesday (03/05/2011).

Prime Minister Erdogan's insistence it was quite a harsh statement, addressed to Gaddafi. Previously, Turkey had been asked Gaddafi to retreat with a subtle manner.

Last month, Erdogan proposed a peace map for Libya. Gaddafi urged his troops to be withdrawn from the town which was annexed by Gaddafi's troops. Erdogan also called on humanitarian aid to the region descended into Libya.

Turkey temporarily closed their embassies in Tripoli a result of diminishing the level of security. The staff of the embassy they even had evacuated to Tunisia.

During this time against the deployment of Turkish military in Libya. But it assess its responsibilities as a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), making them agree to sanction military embargo on Libya.
