At least four persons were killed and five others wounded when two Guatemalan Mayan clashed because of land dispute, police said on Wednesday (04/05/2011).
Villagers Chilimabe Tunayac and engaged in combat that often occurs because the problem of the village, police said in a statement. The clashes took place on Tuesday, about 180 kilometers west of the capital.
Initially, protesters set fire to a tanker truck and destroy the tires of a truck of goods. Mayor Tunayac, Sontay Gabriel, said the number of people are working on road construction projects when they were attacked by residents Chilimabe.
Sontay said the clashes occurred because of differences of opinion between the two groups was about the boundaries of their communal land.
